Shoulder Injuries

Approximately 20% of sport injuries are related to the shoulder, which includes sprains, strains and dislocations. Most shoulder injuries are caused by overuse of the shoulder with abnormal movement patterns which cause damage to the bicep tendon and rotator cuff. The rotator cuff is made up of muscles, tendons and ligaments that secure the upper arm bone into the joint space. Sports like baseball, volleyball, tennis, swimming and weight lifting that require large amounts of overhead movement are the top sports for shoulder injuries. Beyond over use, contact sports like football and ice hockey lead the way in traumatic injuries. We combine the use of joint manipulation, physiotherapy modalities like ultrasound and muscle stimulation, instrument assisted soft tissue manipulation, kinesiotape and active shoulder rehabilitation exercise to achieve quality results.
